Santa Ana College and Cordoba Corporation established the Cordoba Scholars, an initiative providing scholarships and internship opportunities at Cordoba Corporation for Santa Ana College students who aspire to enter the fields of business and entrepreneurship.
The Cordoba Scholarship Fund is annually awarded to continuing SAC students and students transferring to a four-year institution to assist them toward tuition, books, and other costs.
This year’s cohort met with Cordoba Corporation’s Founder and CEO, George L. Pla for an opportunity to share experiences and to hear Mr. Pla’s story about his upbringing and how his commitment to education led to his success today.
“His story was very inspirational to me and everyone else here,” said Cordoba Scholar Jessica Velez. “His story showed that the work that you put in reflects in the outcome. Him coming from nothing and becoming a very successful man shows that it’s possible for all of us to succeed in life.”
Recipient Vu Le shared, “Receiving the award has provided me with the financial freedom to focus on my education and pursue my long-term goals. This scholarship has also empowered me to not only continue my academic journey but also inspire my family’s future generations to value education.” Santa Ana College (SAC), which turned 100 years old in 2015, serves about 18,000 students each semester, preparing students for transfer to four-year institutions, providing invaluable workforce training, and customized training for business and industry.
