Overview

SDG&E is a regulated public utility that provides energy service to 3.4 million consumers through 1.4 million electric meters and more than 855,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties. The utility’s area spans 4,100 square miles. SDG&E’s Drone Investigation, Assessment and Repair (DIAR) Program will be assessing approximately 46,000 distribution poles in the Tier 2 high fire threat district (HFTD). It is projected that 11,000 poles will need remediation.

Cordoba’s Role

Cordoba is currently the owner’s engineer for the DIAR Program that will identify which distribution poles are vulnerable. 6,500 of those poles being modelled in PLS-CADD. Cordoba is responsible for verifying the scope of work for each job package and assigning the work to the various design production firms. Our professionals conduct QA/QC of the 60% engineering stage, 90% design stage, final design package, and true-up calculation to ensure all GO 95 and SDG&E standards are met, and the poles are compliant. We have established metrics and report on performance key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure quality is maintained and that we reach the production goals. The Cordoba team is responsible for maintaining the schedules and document control for the engineering and design portion of the jobs and for developing and maintaining a dashboard that is updated weekly to show the progress of every job.
