Cordoba Corporation’s Maria Mehranian to Host Armenia Fund 20th International Telethon

November 20, 2017
Press Releases

Cordoba Corporation’s Managing Partner and Chief Financial Officer Maria Mehranian will host the Armenia Fund’s 20th Annual International Telethon on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017.  The telethon, which is a Thanksgiving Day tradition for Armenians around the world, will air from Los Angeles, California from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. PST and will be broadcast from coast to coast and internationally.

The theme of this year’s telethon is Fruitful Artsakh, Armenia Fund’s new agricultural development program.  Proceeds from the telethon will be used to bring irrigation water to the farmers of Artsakh, introduce drip irrigation and switch farmers to cultivate high-revenue crops.

Maria Mehranian, who is President of Armenia Fund, Inc., hosted last year’s Thanksgiving Day telethon, which raised $15.4 million dollars to restore civilian infrastructure damaged during a four-day war in the Artsakh Republic and to provide critical humanitarian aid.

Established in 1994 in Los Angeles, Armenia Fund, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt, non-governmental, non-political corporation that has implemented over $120 million of infrastructure development assistance and humanitarian aid worldwide.  It is the largest humanitarian organization serving the Republic of Armenia and the Artsakh Republic.

“I am so pleased to once again host this important telethon for Armenia Fund and I am excited about this year’s focus on Fruitful Artsakh,” said Maria Mehranian.  “As we give thanks here in America on Thanksgiving Day and enjoy the fruits of our labor, I am looking forward to inspiring people to invest in this important initiative and to help build Artsakh’s future.”

“We are proud of Maria for her ongoing efforts to ‘Make a Difference’ here locally and especially in her leadership role with Armenia Fund, Inc. and this telethon,” said George L. Pla, Cordoba Corporation’s President & Chief Executive Officer.  “Given Maria is a water quality expert and the past Chair of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, it is exciting to see her involved in this effort to bring life sustaining irrigation water to the farmers of Artsakh.”
