Cordoba Corporation’s Terrance DeGray, PE, CCM Recognized as Top Certified Construction Manager in the Nation!

Cordoba Corporation’s Terrance DeGray, PE, CCM has been recognized by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) as the top Certified Construction Manager (CCM) in the nation at its September 22-24, 2019 National Conference & Trade Show in Orlando, Florida.

The Mehdi Heydari Certified Construction Manager (CCM) of the Year Award recognizes and commends the culture of certification within the construction management industry. The certified individual who has demonstrated excellence and professionalism is selected on a yearly basis and recognized at the CMAA National Conference. Criteria considered for this prestigious award include: contributions to the construction management industry; advocacy for the CCM profession; professional reputation; community involvement; customer service excellence; innovation; and breadth of program/project experience.

Terrance has demonstrated high professional standards, program leadership, community involvement and contributions to the construction management industry. His dedication to the construction management industry and the CCM profession is evidenced by the leadership he provides to the CMAA Southern California Chapter.  In his role serving as Vice Chair of the CCM Committee, Terrance assists with teaching the importance of the CCM designation and how to apply and pass the CCM exam.  In addition, Terrance is a member of the CMAA Southern California Chapter Foundation Board of Directors, where he chairs both the Internship and Hiring Fair committees.  He has led and organized the largest chapter hiring fair to date and has significantly increased the Internship Program’s presence among firms in Southern California, resulting in over $230,000 in funding for paid internships.  For his service and CCM expertise, Terrance was recognized in May 2019 as the CMAA SoCal Chapter CCM of the Year.

Terrance serves as Program Director for the Bond Management Program at Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD), where Cordoba Corporation is responsible for the program and construction management of the District’s $1.5 Billion Bond Program.  As Program Director, Terrance currently oversees $300M of active bond construction projects in design or construction.  Terrance is directly responsible for the oversight of 22 Bond Management Team members and he directs activities such as planning, financing, project controls, project design and construction and long-range scheduling for over 30 large scale projects on two campuses. Under his leadership, the Bond Program has had zero audit findings.  In addition, Cordoba Corporation’s Bond Management Team has won numerous awards, achievements, and accolades for their projects at LBCCD, including multiple safety awards and CMAA Project Achievement Awards in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Terrance’s accomplishments at LBCCD include overseeing the first ever State Funded Design-Build project.  He has gained national attention for his work on LBCCD’s Districtwide Integrated Energy Master Plan, which will enable the District to achieve Zero Net Energy by 2030. Terrance is currently working with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to assist other community colleges in the benchmarking and data collection processes from best practices used at LBCCD, and he has shared about the master plan at major conferences across the United States.

Terrance is a Professional Engineer, Certified Construction Manager and LEED Accredited Professional with formal education in civil engineering, along with a strong background in leadership and management. Terrance received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Military Institute with Distinction and his M.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech. In 2018, he was recognized by Engineering News-Record as a Top Young Professional (“Top 20 Under 40”).
