Overview

Long Beach Community College is one of the largest community colleges in California with over 30,000 students currently enrolled. It prides itself on creating a supportive, innovative, and sustainable educational environment for its students and the community. Measure E, a $440 million bond approved 2008, and Measure LB, a $850 million bond approved in 2016, along with state grants fund new construction, renovation and repairs at the Pacific Coast Campus and the Liberal Arts Campus. The expenditure of bond funds is overseen by a Citizens’ Oversight Committee to ensure that bond funds are utilized as the voters intended and that projects are completed wisely and efficiently.

Cordoba’s Role

Cordoba has been the prime consultant for the LBCCD Bond Program Management Team since 2006, providing comprehensive program and construction management services. The $1.6 billion program covers more than 30 facilities across the campuses and remote sites spanning 144 square miles. Comprehensive services include site development and planning, area-wide planning, design management, project controls, financial analysis, program management, construction management and commissioning, community outreach, internal/external communications, and move management. Cordoba has successfully completed over 125 projects ranging from $25 thousand to $120+ million. Additionally, Cordoba has managed the creation and implementation of LBCCD’s Integrated Energy Master Plan.

Our team performance has exceeded expectations, as verified through various audits and third-party program reviews. The Citizens’ Oversight Committee has returned reports of zero findings and the consensus is that Cordoba Corporation is an exemplary team member in achieving LBCCD’s goals.

  • Consistently outperformed assigned budget allocation for PM/CM Services and never exceeded existing contracts.

  • In 2018, Cordoba received a CMAA Project Achievement Award, which “recognizes outstanding achievement in the practice of construction management” for Buildings QQ and RR, a $20.3 million project involved a new two-story 24,454-square foot (SF) building and an adjacent renovated building, respectively.
