Press Releases

Cordoba Corporation is pleased to announce that Southwestern Law School has appointed Cordoba Corporation’s Maria Mehranian to its Board of Trustees.  Founded in 1911, Southwestern Law School is a private, non-profit, ABA-accredited law school in Los Angeles.  The Southwestern Law School Board of Trustees functions as the institution’s primary governing body, overseeing policy, academics and appointments. Each member serves for a minimum term of three years.

Southwestern Law School’s Announcement regarding the appointment can be found at the following link:  Southwestern Law School Adds “Magnificent Seven” to Trustee Roster.

“Maria Mehranian is an outstanding multi-faceted person who brings a strong financial and business background to Southwestern Law School’s Board of Trustees, as well as a deep appreciation of important public policy issues in our region.  We are excited by her tremendous breadth and energy and honored that she has joined our Board,” stated Susan Westerberg Prager, Southwestern Law School’s Dean and CEO.

Maria Mehranian is Managing Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Cordoba Corporation, a nationally recognized infrastructure development firm based in Los Angeles.  Maria is directly responsible for the firm’s strategic financial planning and operations overseeing the company’s statewide financial operations.  Maria holds a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles.

“What makes Southwestern unique is that it enables the nontraditional student – working professionals and individuals with child- or elder-care responsibilities who may not otherwise be able to pursue law school – to acquire a legal education through part-time and evening programs that cater to their needs, said Maria Mehranian. “Graduates have moved onto prominent positions in the legal, civic and business sectors, including many in positions of leadership in the entertainment, non-profit and investment communities. It is a very special institution and I am looking forward to working with the other members of the Board of Trustees and administrators, and meeting students and faculty.”

Maria Mehranian also serves in leadership positions for other academic institutions, including the Woodbury University Board of Trustees and the Dean’s Leadership Board at Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering.  She is a Past Chair of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, and she participates in numerous water policy panels on water quality and supply issues and serves as a guest lecturer for universities throughout the state.

Maria is currently the International Chairperson of Armenia Fund, Inc., which has raised more than $120M for humanitarian and infrastructure development in Armenia. For exemplifying outstanding qualities in both her personal and professional life while continuing to preserve the richness of her Armenian heritage, Maria is a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

“Maria never ceases to amaze me with her energy and dedication to Making a Difference in all of her volunteer and community endeavors,” stated George L. Pla, Cordoba Corporation President & CEO.  “She will be an amazing addition to the Southwestern Law School Board of Trustees and we are proud of her appointment.”
