Sector Manager discusses how Cordoba Corporation is preparing its clients for the future of facilities
In this Q&A, we connect with Sector Manager Emily Ryan, to discuss how she helps manage the Education and Facilities Sector at Cordoba Corporation to best meet the needs of our clients.
What does a day in the life of a Sector Manger look like?
“Every day is a little bit different – I think of each day as like a choose your own adventure book. Some days I could be developing training, writing a proposal, or coordinating with our corporate services departments about contracts or finances. Other days could be working on client deliverables like staffing plans, finance reports, or candidate submittals. Every once in a blue moon, I’m excited to put on my boots and meet with our teams in person to see our projects firsthand.”
Our facilities, especially in the education sector, are critical to the success of our communities. Where do you see the education facilities industry heading?
“I think this is an interesting time for school and facility – our industry is starting to catch up to the modern age and schools are incorporating more advanced technologies and updating their needs. There’s increased need for things like smart classrooms, security cameras, and flexible adaptive learning spaces to enhance changing learning environments. Districts and agencies alike are starting to look at new methods of doing things like utilizing progressive design build as their delivery method or P3 to manage and fund their projects. Our clients’ needs are changing and it’s exciting to watch our teams work with them hand in hand to create the landscape and environment for tomorrow.“
Is there a project you’re particularly proud of?
“I’m proud of our team. I always joke that I rest on their laurels – so I claim their success as my success. Every beam placed and every project they complete is a cause for celebration. I’m also very proud of their individual achievements when they get new certifications or promotions.”
Why or what makes you proud to be a “Cordobian”?
“I am proud to be a “Cordobian” because of our company culture. I appreciate the amount of emphasis Cordoba provides to giving back and to making a difference. It’s always been important to me for work to mean more than just a paycheck – the impact matters and the team matters. At Cordoba, the impact is great, and the strength of the team is even greater.”
