Cordoba Corporation established the Cordoba Scholars, a new initiative providing scholarships and internship opportunities at Cordoba Corporation for SAC students who aspire to enter the fields of business and entrepreneurship.
“It is the generosity and commitment of donors like Cordoba Corporation that assist the college in cultivating a robust educational environment and services for our students to thrive,” said Santa Ana College Interim President Dr. Marilyn Flores. “Through partnerships like this, where students are given extra financial assistance for their education a s well as the opportunity to participate in summer internship opportunities aligned with their career goals, fosters and advances student success and helps our community to prosper.”
“Cordoba will provide a pathway for students in our community to transform their lives through higher education and mentorship opportunities afforded by the Cordoba Corporation, and that is something to celebrate,” says Santa Ana Mayor Vicente Sarmiento. “I hope this generous gesture encourages more philanthropy to help meet the challenge goal so that more students can graduate and succeed.”
Santa Ana College (SAC), which turned 100 years old in 2015, serves about 18,000 students each semester. The college prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions, provides invaluable workforce training, and customized training for business and industry. In addition, another 11,000 students are served through the college’s School of Continuing Education located at Centennial Education Center. Ranked as one of the nation’s top two-year colleges awarding associate degrees to Latino and Asian students, the college is also recognized throughout the state for its comprehensive workforce training programs for nurses, firefighters, law enforcement and other medical personnel. SAC is one of two comprehensive colleges under the auspices of the Rancho Santiago Community College District.
