San Pedro and Phineas Banning High School triple header brings fireworks at LA Memorial Coliseum

The stage was set for the 86th meeting between the Banning Pilots and the San Pedro Pirates, known locally as “The Battle of the Harbor”, and named the “The Harbor Classic” for this year’s special triple header at the Coliseum. This clash, a cornerstone of the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series, brought fireworks at the LA Memorial Coliseum on Friday, October 18, 2024.

“Beyond the gridiron, this rivalry epitomizes the unity and spirit of a community split by the harbor, but united in their love for Friday night lights. As the stands swelled with over 10,000 fans, one thing was certain—this is more than just a game—it’s a testament to community pride.  As we do every year, all ticket sales revenue will go directly back to the athletic programs for San Pedro and Banning High,” said George L. Pla, President of Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Founder & CEO of Cordoba Corporation.

Both schools collectively raised over $40,000 to their athletic programs.
