Cordoba Corporation is pleased to announce that Cordoba Corporation Founder & CEO George L. Pla was unanimously elected on January 28, 2021, as President of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission.

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission is a Joint Powers Authority between the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, and the Sixth District Agricultural Association (referred to as the California Science Center), an institution of the State of California.  George was appointed to the Coliseum Commission in November 2019 by Governor Gavin Newsom.

The Commission’s purpose is to provide for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Banc of California Stadium (the location of the former Los Angeles Sports Arena).

George succeeds Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn as President.  Supervisor Hahn, who nominated George to serve as President, said “George is a successful leader who will guide the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum into the next phase of its long storied history. I look forward to working with him. ”

“I am honored to have the trust of Supervisor Hahn and my fellow commissioners, and look forward to help enhance our relationship with USC and the Los Angeles Football Club; expand the recently established Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Foundation; and prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.  The Coliseum is a historic, iconic and beloved landmark and has been a key venue in previous Olympic Games in Los Angeles,” said George L. Pla.
